Abstract

This study aimed to investigate parental educational practices for children aged 3 to 5 years in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Fifty parents and 5 teachers from daycare centers and preschools from the south and north of Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. The scale of beliefs about parenting practices in early childhood was applied and the sociodemographic data sheet for parents and teachers were interviewed about the influences of parenting practices on the behavior of children in the School Units. From the analyzes carried out, it can be seen that most fathers and mothers demonstrate concerns and care for their children in their responses. Furthermore, in the sociodemographic data, there are participants with training ranging from Incomplete Elementary School (24%) to Complete Higher Education (4%). Therefore, it is possible to verify the possible influences on the child’s relationship with the environment in which he is inserted. It is hoped that the present study can bring benefits both to the area of education and to the area of developmental psychology and educational psychology.
