Psychopedagogy and social equity

Abstract

This work deals with the role of psychopedagogy in the 21st Century and describes how it helped build a more independent and more equitable society. It includes a study of the psychopedagogy’s new paradigms, its historical development and its close inter-relations with other fields of study. It should be pointed out that a number of professional psychopedagogues performed a most remarkable role by giving advice, analytical guidelines, and actually addressing the historical significance of the teaching and learning situations –especially in Latin America– in respect of the ultimate goals of Education. An aspect that the author considers of critical importance all along this period is further discussed: the family, institutional, and social context of educational events. The approach suggested is to bear in mind diversity and individual differences in order to enable each person to achieve both intellectual fulfillment and social integration.
