The Brazilian Association of Psychopedagogy (ABPp) is a scientific and cultural non-profit organization that brings together professionals working at the intersection of education and health, with a focus on promoting, developing, and consolidating Psychopedagogy as an interdisciplinary field of knowledge and practice.
Founded on November 12, 1980, initially under the name State Association of Psychopedagogues of São Paulo (AEP), the entity emerged from the initiative of a group of professionals committed to the understanding and intervention in learning processes and difficulties. Due to growing interest and national demand, the AEP was transformed in 1986 into the Brazilian Association of Psychopedagogy (ABPp), progressively expanding through the creation of regional Sections and local Chapters in various Brazilian states.
Since its inception, ABPp has actively engaged in discussions and guidelines concerning the training, professional profile, and regulatory recognition of psychopedagogical practice in Brazil. Its institutional trajectory reflects a firm commitment to the technical, scientific, and ethical advancement of Psychopedagogy and the critical dissemination of its knowledge.
As of 2020, ABPp comprises 15 Regional Sections and 5 Local Chapters across the country, all formally affiliated and operating under national coordination.
ABPp regularly promotes congresses, symposia, seminars, and continuing education courses, with updated information available on its official website: www.abpp.com.br. It also maintains the scientific journal Revista Psicopedagogia (ISSN-e 2179-4057), an open-access publication dedicated to the dissemination of research and theoretical contributions in the field.
Membership in ABPp is open to all professionals and students interested in the field of Psychopedagogy, regardless of their original area of training, provided they share the association’s commitment to scientific rigor, ethical responsibility, and social relevance.
