Abstract

This case study presents the neuropsychological intervention with a 14-year-old diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and cognitive deficit. Cognitive and neuropsychological reassessments were conducted to identify difficulties and guide interventions, including cognitive stimulation programs and, from 2022, Neurofeedback as a complementary therapy. The results indicated improvements in overall intellectual functioning, positively impacting learning and daily life. In the first cognitive reassessment, the profile was heterogeneous, with a Verbal IQ (VIQ) of 61 (very low) and a Performance IQ (PIQ) of 87 (low average). After the introduction of Neurofeedback, the second reassessment showed progress (VIQ=81; PIQ=99), elevating to low average and average levels, respectively. In the third reassessment, the profile became homogeneous, with a VIQ of 92 and a PIQ of 102, both within the average range for the age. This work demonstrates the effectiveness of cognitive stimulation and Neurofeedback in enhancing cognitive abilities in youth with neurodevelopmental disorders. Future studies with larger samples are recommended to further explore these findings.
