In the preschool context, educators need to develop teaching practices that prevent early childhood stress and promote children’s mental health. This study aimed to identify educational practices that help prevent stress in children attending preschool. The sample consisted of 111 educators, Portuguese (62%) and Brazilian (38%), who work with heterogeneous age groups. We applied the Educational Practices for Dealing with Stress in Childhood subscale from the P2SEPE instrument. This is a Likert-type scale composed of 18 items, designed to identify the educational practices educators implement to mitigate childhood stress, organized into four dimensions: Promotion of Well-being, School/Family Cooperation, Prevention, and Psychoeducational Planning. Data were collected from educators working in Portugal and Brazil and analysed using the statistical software SPSS, version 26, for MS Windows. The results revealed statistically significant differences in educational practices related to School/Family Cooperation, with Portuguese educators reporting higher averages than their Brazilian counterparts. These findings may be explained by sociocultural differences between the study groups. Implications for teaching practice and the teaching-learning process in educator training are also discussed.
