The Basic Education Assessment System (SAEB) is a set of large-scale assessments, applied every 2 years in Brazil, which allows the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (INEP) to carry out a diagnosis of Basic Education and the factors that can interfere with student performance. Even before the pandemic of COVID-19, the results prove that 15% of students, aged around 8, registered in schools in Brazil, were unable to read and write words alphabetically. In this context, believes it is necessary to review reading and writing skills in the years prior to literacy. To this, it was researched in the literature, evidences on Early Literacy in preschool children (3 to 5 years old) and the contributions to the use of intentional playful strategies for development of fundamental precursors for reading and writing.
