About the possibility oh the game as mediator of adult learning

Abstract

The research has as its goal to raise some thoughts about the usage of game/play as mediator of adult learning considering the new proposals of lifelong learning and education for the third millennium, specifically concerning adult learning and education. It’s based on socio-historical psychology and on theoreticians who have considered game/play and the human development from a historical (Vygotsky) and dialectical (Wallon) perspective. It’s a bibliographical research that uses as a methodological strategy a bibliographic uptake from articles which titles have any sort of reference to adult education and learning with focus on education for the third millennium; expectations regarding mankind within these proposals and game/play as a resource for the development expected from men in the new millennium. Publications from 1990 were selected from periodicals which have been awarded with National A concept in the last evaluation from ANPED and ANPEPP. The analysis of the content found in the selected material is the resource used in order to find out some indexes about the relevance of game/play as mediator of adult learning. The results show that the bibliography about game/play is still not related to adult learning and education, indicating that the expected relations are yet to be built.
