Psychopedagogic study focused on children and adolescent patients of hemato-oncologic diseases

Abstract

The present study aimed at investigating, with a psychopedagogical focus, the learning process in children and teenagers with hemato-oncological diseases. I compiled the structural questions comprising the learning process, namely organism, body, intelligence and desire, as necessary to the subject (person) in his/ her process of construction of learning. This perspective led me towards the cognizing subject (patient) in his/her singularity and to their families. I researched the fractures and possibilities facing the learning process of these patients subjected by the disease, which forces them to distance themselves from the school environment and from a close relationship with their relatives and friends. Methodology: the opening of a listening space for patients and their relatives, next to the medical assistance place, and the use of semi-directed interviews and mail. As a result, I verified that both Hospital and School Institutions work in a segmented way, which generated excludent behavior for the children and teenagers, and risks of failure in their learning process, repeating grades and abandonment of school.
